I mean, as naive as it sounds, I really thought nobody I knew had it. Had HIV. You know, because, again, you hear numbers, but then actually getting into the field and seeing so many of my peers who were living with HIV, it was almost like a shock to me because our community wasn’t always talking about it. And that’s what kind of shifted my idea like, “Okay, if there is a tool that I can use that can reduce my risk of acquiring HIV, let me go ahead and give it a chance.”
PrEP allows you to take control of your sexual health and remain HIV negative. And it’s not contingent on your partner’s status or your partner’s choosing to use other risk-reduction methods. It’s actually something that you can take, that puts you fully in control of remaining HIV negative.
