Well I guess to tell you about how I found out about PrEP, I have to go back to how I should have found out about it.

I was with a guy, and he received his diagnosis of HIV. I received a negative result. And they told me to just come back every so many months.

This was after 2012, which means that PrEP had been FDA approved in the United States, and not once did that provider, out of those three visits, did they mention PrEP to me.

PrEP, which is pre-exposure prophylaxis, is an ongoing drug that you can take to prevent you from contracting HIV.

As a black woman myself, who has been in positions where I could have seroconverted because of lack of knowledge, I think that it is important that when I know something that I share it.
