We need to stop saying HIV infected

When people say HIV infected, that really still bothers me at this point. And the reason why that bothers me so much is that it changed for me a few years back when I went to a conference in Florida and there was a woman who had been living with HIV for close to 30 years, 35 years, and she said someone called her HIV infected. And she said it struck her because still perpetuates the stigma. So, I would prefer people to embrace the term people living with HIV. Start with people first. So say, “A person living with HIV.”
