What if I miss a dose of PrEP?

If you miss a dose, don’t panic, just go ahead and take it the next day. If you miss multiple doses, go ahead and take your next dose as regularly scheduled, but I want you to be thoughtful about it. I want you to not just say, oh well, I missed two doses, I can move on. I want you to make sure that if you start missing multiple doses during any given week, that, for those coming days, that you make sure that you’re using condoms, or that you’re being really thoughtful about what exposure you’re having so that you make sure that you’re protected.

Dr. Flash talks about what to do when you miss a dose of PrEP. (Hint: Don’t panic!)

Try to get back on a daily schedule as soon as possible. As long as you don’t make a habit of missing doses, missing one will not likely affect the level of protection PrEP offers from HIV.
