How effective is the pill to prevent HIV?

PrEP is really effective. As with anything else, how well it works depends on you. So for example, if you have high blood pressure, and you take your blood pressure medication only half the time, it’s only going to work half the time. And half the time your blood pressure is going to be higher than you want it to be. So, just like with anything else, if you take it on a regular basis, it will provide that protection for you.

Dr. Flash discusses how PrEP, when taken as prescribed, is highly effective in preventing HIV!

Consistent, daily use of PrEP is associated with increased effectiveness. If you decide to start PrEP, it will take some time for the pill to reach maximum effectiveness.
