BE>AIDS WEEK. Get Yourself Test. June 19-June 27th National HIV Testing Day GYTNOW.ORG

Greater Than AIDS, in partnership with GYT, launches a week-long special promotion in 10 cities to encourage HIV and other STD testing in the lead up to National HIV Testing Day on June 27th.

Targeted public service messages air across MTV Networks and select CBS Radio, Clear Channel Radio and Radio One stations in each city.
Kelly Rowland, Ciara, Sway of MTV and other talent help get out the word about testing.
Select Planned Parenthood health centers to offer free and low cost testing.
Walgreens to provide free testing with Access Community Health Network in select Chicago stores.
A customized webpage provides information about free and low cost local HIV testing sites and community events.

Supporting organizations include the National Association of People With AIDS, the National Alliance of State & Territorial AIDS Directors, the National Coalition of STD Directors, U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Black AIDS Institute, Gilead Sciences, among others.


			IN THE SPOTLIGHT “I AM GREATER THAN AIDS,” A Special WE>AIDS Production hosted by Steve Harvey Renowned entertainer, author and radio personality Steve Harvey hosts a lively, inspiring half hour radio program that explores how through unity, hope and personal empowerment we can be Greater Than AIDS. To be distributed by Clear Channel Radio nationwide June 19/20 and June 26/27. Listen Here

Fort & Dragoon in Detroit		DETROIT > AIDS In April, Greater Than AIDS toured the Motor City with the Kaiser Family Foundation’s Media Fellowships Program to examine health disparities (see coverage on BET.com). While in town, Greater Than AIDS met with the Michigan and Detroit health departments, the Community Health Awareness Group, and the Children’s Hospital of Michigan’s Horizons Project to learn more about how HIV/AIDS is affecting the area. 		OKLAHOMA > AIDS Rxposed, Inc. encouraged young people to be “Greater Than AIDS” with two local events—Hoops 4 Health and a peer educator conference. “The Greater Than AIDS kits gave us that edge we needed to reach youth,” says president and founder Manssa Muhammad. “We handed out everything...down to the last sticker!”
		ALABAMA > AIDS Sisterbration’s “Girls Night Out” is Greater Than AIDS this year, celebrating women of color and empowering them to take control of their health. Sisterbration partnered with Greater Than AIDS on the event, by including a full-page print ad in their program guide and providing Greater Than AIDS materials to participants.
		FORD FOUNDATION > AIDS A supporting partner of Greater Than AIDS, the Ford Foundation announces a new HIV Rights Initiative, with special focus on the Southern United States.
		BABYFACE > AIDS Shout out to Miesha Jones of Temple Hills, Maryland who won the Greater Than AIDS and Soul Summer Babyface Sweepstakes on Facebook by checking her HIV/AIDS knowledge. View Photos

Phill Wilson of the Black AIDS Institute presented Greater Than AIDS at an historic meeting, “Black Men & AIDS,” at the White House on June 2nd. Watch Video

OHIO > AIDS

Celebrities such as Lamman Rucker, Rockmond Dunbar (both pictured above with Hydeia Broadbent), Sheryl Lee Ralph, and Danny Glover joined the Ohio Greater Than AIDS / Test 1 Million Tour (April 21-24), which traveled across the state organizing free testing events and rallies at Wilberforce State University, Central State University, and Miami University of Ohio. Activists Marvelyn Brown and Hydeia Broadbent also shared their inspiring stories. View Video and photos.

The Greater Than AIDS movement responds to the AIDS crisis in the United States, in particular the severe and disproportionate epidemic among Black Americans. Through a national media campaign and community outreach, Greater Than AIDS aims to increase knowledge and understanding of HIV/AIDS and confront the stigma surrounding the disease. The Kaiser Family Foundation provides strategic direction and day-to-day management. The Black AIDS Institute, a founding partner, provides leadership and technical guidance. It is coordinated with the CDC's Act Against AIDS Initiative. Additional funding and substantive support is provided by the Ford Foundation, MAC AIDS, and Elton John AIDS Foundation. www.greaterthan.org
