As part of a 5-city summer concert series tour, Be Greater Than AIDS: Get Yourself Tested was at Spring Fest in Miami (5/28), Jamboree in Chicago (6/4), Summer Jam in New York (6/5), Birthday Bash in Atlanta (6/18) and Powerhouse in Los Angeles (6/25). Co-produced with Emmis Communications, Radio One and MTV with support from Gilead Sciences, on-stage call outs, giveaways and other promotions encourage concert goers to get tested and informed about HIV and other STDs. On air promotions, including DJ call outs and targeted public service ads, lead up to the concerts to reach even more listeners. | | Walgreens, the nation’s largest drugstore chain, is partnering with Greater Than AIDS to get out information and provide HIV-related services, including free testing, at select locations. In-store signage and other materials, including a special 8-page guide co-produced with EBONY, provide customers at more than 300 Walgreens pharmacies in heavily affected communities with information about HIV/AIDS. The EBONY guide, which includes tips for talking with partners and health care providers about testing, also is being distributed as an insert in more than 1.6 million copies of the July issue of the magazine. Additionally, free HIV testing events will be offered at select Walgreens stores between June 22-24 in Chicago, Dallas, Fort Lauderdale, Georgia, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans, Oakland and San Francisco. The testing events are coordinated with the CDC’s “Act Against AIDS” initiative, state and local health departments and AIDS service organizations. Orasure donated test kits to multiple locations. | | “Their faces look like my face.” Academy Award winning actress and comedian Mo’Nique hosts a special half-hour radio show on HIV/AIDS, co-produced by Greater Than AIDS and Clear Channel Communications. The program focuses on the “Deciding Moments” that shape how we think and act in the face of this disease. Clear Channel radio stations across the nation will air the show in June as part of an ongoing partnership with Greater Than AIDS that includes targeted public service messages and online promotions. |
