My name: Lolisa
Age: 23
Occupation: HIV Public Speaker/ Educator
A little known fact about me: I can not dance.
How I found out I was positive:
When I was 17 years-old, I got sick twice within a two month period. My doctor recommended that I get tested for HIV.
How I was infected: After many tests, my doctors came to the conclusion that I was born HIV positive.
My Deciding Moment:
When I realized that sharing my story had the power to help others.
How I am Greater Than AIDS:
I am committed to raising awareness and challenging the stigma associated with HIV.
What I want someone who is HIV negative to know about me: Before I knew my status I cared very little about HIV. Don’t do the same.
What I would tell someone who recently found out they were HIV positive:
Don’t look at your status as something negative. Take it and do positive things with it. It’s just the start of a more responsible life.
